Kevin Hess

Volunteer Coordinator

I am a product of Southeast Missouri, raised in Charleston, and recently retired from state employment as the Chief Juvenile Officer for the 33rd Circuit (Mississippi & Scott Counties).  I earned my Bachelor of Applied Arts & Sciences in 1983 from Southwest Texas State University during my 9-year stretch in the U.S. Air Force as a Security Policeman.  My working career includes stints as a welder’s helper on cross-county pipelines, military service as an enlisted person and then commissioned as an officer after earning my degree, mental health worker, social service worker, owner of a sporting goods and convenience store, and finally settled down into a 26+ year career with the Juvenile Office.

My wife, Karen, is from Collinsville, IL, and works in Charleston as the Office Administrator for a local investment company.  We have three children and five grandchildren.  Karen and I enjoy playing golf and doing things with our family and friends.  I shoot competitive skeet and my wife and I love traveling to new locations throughout the Midwest attending these events.

I’m extremely lucky to be able to continue my involvement in helping children and families improve the quality of their lives as a member of the Voices for Children/CASA Team!
